I am a theoretical physicist and computational neuroscientist researching consciousness through the lens of algorithmic information theory and computational neuroscience. In the past I worked on theoretical physics (quantum gravity as a PhD student) and, then, radar applications (GNSS-R, GPS-R). My current work (last ~20 yrs) involves creating computational/biophysical models to emulate and understand brain dynamics (epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, other neuroelogical conditions) and structured experience (psychiatric conditions), and translating these insights into clinical applications—particularly in the field of noninvasive brain stimulation, where computational neuropsychiatry and computational neurophenomenology will play a key role. I’m especially interested in how these models shed light on human experience and their broader implications for artificial intelligence and other life forms. (Google Profile)

Institutions I have co-founded:

  • Starlab provides state-of-the-art neuroimaging data analysis services in four main areas: Experience, Aging, Neurodevelopment, and Neuromodulation. We are a team of neuroscientists, i.e. physicists, mathematicians, cognitive scientists, environmentalists, and engineers backed up by a business team aiming to translate science into breakthrough neurotechnologies with a profound and positive impact on our clients and the society in general.

  • Neuroelectrics is a creative, high-tech company offering the best in class non-invasive and high definition electrical brain stimulation technology for personalized neuromodulation based on computational modeling of the brain. By measuring and modifying brain function, we aim to restore brain health, minimize disabilities and create a better life for patients.

  • The Barcelona Computational Foundation is a visionary non-profit research foundation dedicated to understanding and recreating life, brains, and minds as fundamentally computational phenomena. Our mission is to advance computational neuropsychiatry and neurophenomenology, pioneer neurosynthetic AI, and ultimately provide means for better lives and societies - may these be biological, hybrid or synthetic.
